O 7º CONTINENTE - Kevin Connor

Muito antes dos dinossauros de Spielberg ganharem vida no fabuloso JURASSIC PARK, nos anos 70, vindos de Inglaterra, chegaram ao cinema uma série de adaptações de novelas de Edgar Rice Burroughs, o famoso autor do Tarzan. A primeira foi O SEXTO CONTINENTE (The Land That Time Forgot), outra foi a sequela desse filme, O 7º CONTINENTE. Neste uma expedição parte à procura de um dos personagens do primeiro filme e, claro, encontram um continente esquecido no tempo, repleto de dinossauros e tribos primitivas.

Não era um grande filme, mas uma interessante série B que cumpria a sua função de puro entretenimento. O elenco era razoável e as criaturas não eram muito realistas, mas fazia tudo parte do espírito de aventura e diversão da história.

Vistos hoje, este dois filmes são datados e as suas criaturas estão longe dos dinossauros que vimos no JURASSIC PARK, mas abram as vossas mentes e talvez achem graça a estas produções de série B

THE PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT - Kevin Connor

Many years before Spielberg’s dinosaurs became alive in the fabulous JURASSIC PARK, in the 70s, from England came a series of movie adaptations of Edgar Rice Burrough’s novels. The first was THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT and a couple of years later it got this sequel, THE PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT. This time around, an expedition goes looking for one of the guys of the first movie and, as you can imagine, they find a continent forgoten in time, where dinosaurs and primitive tribes rule the day.

It wasn’t great, but it was an interesting and entertaining B-movie. The cast wasn’t that bad and the creatures, like in the first movie, were far from looking real, but it was all part of the spirit of adventure and fun of the story.

Seen today, these two movies may look dated and its creatures are far from the dinosaurs we saw in JURASSIC PARK, but open up your mind and you may enjoy these B productions.
